The room was appalling we have already complained.

Value for money. Beautiful castle setting. Excellent location.

      Poor shower/bathroom amenities

very good food, very good staff, very clean linen in the rooms but it needs a face lift.

Every surface was sticky to the touch, bannisters, doors, dining room tables, it could do with a good clean.

Ryde Castle could be stunning if the owners would spend some money on the refurbishment it so badly needs. The staff are friendly and hard working. The breakfast was good and of generous proportions but the seats you sit on to eat it are badly worn and stained. The bedroom furniture is such a mix that it appears to have come from a boot sale and we pulled the curtains very gently as they appeared not to have been cleaned - ever! Having said that the bed had clean white linen and was comfy but you used the bathroom only when you had to - without any enjoyment - cork floors and a shabby shower.

Excellent location, handy for town centre, bars, restaurants and beach. Abundant free car parking available at hotel. Good cooked breakfast. Nice seating areas on patio outside bar and restaurant.

At £99 per room per night we felt that our stay at the Ryde Castle Hotel represented very poor value for money. When we booked a superior double room we were promised 'a spacious room wth fine furnishings, bath, shower and most have a king sized bed' Our room wasn't very spacious, furnishings were old fashioned and of poor quality and we didn't have a king sized bed. We did have a bath and shower, but the bathroom was extremely small and cramped. The water pressure for the shower was very weak, there was no hot water available for a shower on the night of our arrival and the sink had a constantly dripping tap. The bathroom window had no handle and so could not be closed properly The hotel looks inviting from the outside and has the potential to be a very nice hotel but unfortunately the interior of the hotel is is extremely shabby and run down throughout and in need of a complete refurbishment.

Location and reception staff very good

Hotel old and tired looking, rooms old need an update,

Convenient location and large car park. Easy access to rest of island and ferry port. Fair price for meals and good outside facilities for dining.

We felt the bedroom was shabby. Lampshades did not match, neither did bedding and curtains, Impossible to read in the evening as lighting was poor.Nowhere in bathroom for my wife to put her toiletries or bathrobe. General view of the hotel was old fashioned and tired.

Hotel rather shabby. Clean in most areas but needs major upgrade in all areas. Food excellent

      Shabby furnishngs/carpets etc

The staff were all very pleasant and the breakfasts and a couple of meals we had at the hotel were very nice and good value. The location was good. Nice white good size towels.

It is badly in need of refurbishment - the double bedroom we had was very small and the furniture was very shabby. The windows are in a bad state with broken panes in our room - it had a depressing feel to it. It is a shame because it could be really nice hotel. If we had known how bad the standard room was going to be we would have paid the supplement for a better room but unfortunately there were none of those rooms available when we arrived.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The bedrooms were too hot, the plumbing was pretty awful and the rooms could have done with a small fridge.

Always a good breakfast to get us ready for a day at the Festival. All staff were friendly. The location was perfect for our plans for getting to the festival and only a short walk from Ryde Pierhead. Food in brasserie was good and the outside spaces were nice to enjoy when the sun comes out and we were pleased with the seaview - made a difference to wake up to that view. There was free wi fi which as also a really good bonus. The hotel has some nice quirky characteristics

I think it could just with bringing up to date with some newer furnishings/curtains and TVs (even just to get freeview in the rooms would be a good).. The shower was also a little poor. The hotel itself has some nice characteristics and again keeping the old and modernising it a little would make a big differemce.

The Linen and Towels in our room were very clean and fresh. The beds were very comfortable. The room was made tidy and clean every day and provided all facilities advertised E.G. sofa, hairdryer, iron, ironing board. The breakfasts were of a very good standard.

The Hotel itself is more than a little tired with wiring and plumbing issues and in need of re-decoration throughout. The provision of evening meals was compromised by the functions arranged. Service to the general public and hotel residents stopped on 2 out of the 3 nights we stayed due to the wedding breakfasts taking priority. Our room needed quite a large amount of maintanence; windows did not close, lock or fit properly, light fittings were loose, toilet hard to flush, window in bathroom hard plastic so no ventilation in the bathroom, bath would not drain away very easily, net curtains hem had come down, thick layer of dust on the wall hanging, tv was ancient, tv stand was split, kitchen fans below our room on constantly making room very noisy even through the night, function room, just below, disco noise continued way past midnight. We expected so much more from an Old English Inn owned by Greene King. This hotel could be a fantastic place to stay but is sadly currently poorly maintained and managed.

The bar and patio for lunch was excellant.Evening menu and main restaraunt were also very good as was the breakfast.Prices were quite reasonable.

Hotel furnishings seemed a bit tired and in general a refurbishment seems neccessary.

Lovely sea view from our hotel room, although the hotel is situated on a busy main road so there was some noise from the traffic, hovercraft, and a nearby nightclub. (We closed the window and it did not disturb our sleep). The hotel staff are friendly and helpful.

Our room was nice but quite small and a bit basic for the price we paid. At breakfast there was a fantastic choice of breakfast foods, everything we tried was delicious, but our waitress did not speak English very well so we did not get exactly what we had ordered!! Drinks at the bar are a bit pricey; a friend of ours ordered a rum and coke, when he asked the bar person to fill his glass to the top with coke he was charged an extra 75p.

      The location

I was unimpressed that the room was classed a superior double(room 20) which it clearly was not. I did question this on 2 occasions and on the second time was told that the hotel was going to be refurbished in november 2011,not a lot of help to us!!! The room was shabby and the shower did not work. We were not offered the lower rate that other wedding guests on 23/5/2011 received. The breakfast organisation was chaotic, this was mainly due to the fact that no one seemed to be in charge and that the 2 staff did not speak english well enough,to understand guests.
