As a young couple we did the comfortable bed nice n firm, the design and layout of the room was perfect. Me and my girlfriend had a great time. The room was very warm opened the large window to let the cool air in it was great. We did visit the park opposite, nice flowers my gf took lots of pictures of them, the hotel was nice and quiet when we stayed there did hav great time we'll come again
When we first got to the hotel it wasnt much to look at. The banister on top of the stairs was wobbling and we though it was going to break!! The bed was two single beds joined together, the bathroom was tiny and it smelt bad but when we switched on the light the small air vent kicked in and we left the light on. as we walked pass the other rooms we could hear them chatting ummm i wonder if they heard us!! ;-) but once in the room it was quiet and we couldnot hear anyone from the other rooms and we found a condom in the draw just the one though!

The gardens were blooming and birds were chirping, and it was a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff there are wonderful, with efficient and knowledgeable service at the front desk, excellent room cleaning and restocking of the tea tray, and overall friendliness.
As I booked the single room, I was prepared for it to be quite small, and it was, but comfortable for my needs. There was no view, as my room window looked onto the backyard and annex building. The hotel's location near the Arboretum makes for a pleasant setting, but one that is a 20 minute walk from the city center and with no restaurants and other businesses nearby.

The building was very impressive and our room was beautiful and big, the decor and furnishings were really nice. I was surprised to find a king sized bed as I'd booked a double room!
The shower room although adequate didn't match the standard of the bedroom, which was a shame because it seemed a lovely hotel.

The hotel was very accessible being on the main tram line . It was quiet and relaxing and the Arboritum directly opposite was a beautiful bonus. The staff were very friendly, helpful and approachable. The servicing of the room was good and unobtrusive .
The garden area and steps did not appear to have much attention. There were signs that the upkeep and maintenance could have been improved.

It was quiet.
I was unable to open the window as the frames were rotten and I didn't want to break them. The prison bars outside were another deterrent from opening the window!

The helpful staff who were willing to print off information relating to local events. We were able to upgrade at no extra cost as the superior room was not booked. The arboretum was opposite and the tram stopped close by. Easy walking distance to city centre. Very convenient.

On arrival I was upgraded from a single room to a room with a huge bed (3 pillows wide!!) which was a nice surprise (don't know why?). The decor in the room was nice, shower had peeling paint but otherwise ok.
Bad bits. I was at the back of the hotel & there was a very annoying neighbour who would talk/ chant late into the night (I went to bed at 10pm as working). Also, wheelie bins getting bounced up or down some stairs by, I think, the hotel at 12.00 ish. The wi-fi wasn't a very good signal. Parking a bit of a pain, tho I did find a space on the street each night, free 5pm-9am.Also, I chose to eat in the restaurant one night & basically, no-one was in it & the staff had to fire everything up to cook me dinner. The were friendly but it did make me feel a bit awkward sitting alone. The pub up the road (The Vernon Arms) looked to have a deal on each night. I got rump steak, chips, etc & a pint for £5.75 I am going back to Nott's next week & have booked somewhere else as in the 3 nights I was there, I didn't sleep well once.

Hotel in walking distance of the city. Opposite of a little park. We stayed in the second building which was 30 m away from the road - quiet rooms. Room with tea cooking facilities.
Rooms not very clean. Dishes at breakfast table not clean. Bath without heating. No problem during our stay but may be cold in winter.

Helpful and efficient staff, who took the trouble to contact me beforehand about the availability of parking near the hotel. The room was comfortable and clean and although small was more than adequate for a short stay.
The access from the street is up some very steep steps, and the garden is a rather overgrown, which detracts a bit from the first impression. Similarly some of the rooms are up very steep steps that guests with mobility problems might find difficult.
