I liked the peace and quiet was very relaxing. Also the bathroom was excellent.

It would be good to have room service, and to have some type of food available other than a vending machine. Also 1 pilloe per person is not enough

It was convenient for getting into the town center. The bathroom was great!

Our room had no towels and could have done with a lick of paint!

I liked the fact that we had two double beds in the room - very comfortable.

Breakfast in the mornings. It was self service, but the cutlery tray was not kept topped up. We had to ask for knives and forks and when we did, were met with a grunt. We couldn't get a fried egg, again we asked if we could and were told we couldn't in a very dismissive manner by one of the staff members. All the cooked breakfast consisted of was scrambled egg, bacon, sausages and beans, which you helped yourself to. It's a shame they didn't have more options, such as fried eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes etc. The safe in our room didn't work, the previous resident had locked it so we couldn't set our own code. We asked at reception for the code to be reset on our first day and our request was never dealt with.

Good value, comfortable hotel for my purposes - business - with decent breakfast and cheap car parking on site, compared with more expensive city centre locations. Good access off main roads by car and also handy for Cardiff Bay if you wanted to go there..

Nothing in particular - was a 20 minute walk to city centre, castle area, which is where I wanted to go in evening - not a problem in good weather!

I thought the staff were friendly and helpful

We had to change from our original room because the bed made an awful loud noise however so did our second room but we just put up with it

I've stayed at this hotel before and think its excellent value it's nice and quiet and it's near the city centre as doesnt cost much in a taxi. The only down fall is you have to pay to use the car park but it's only £3 a day so it's still reasonable.overall a nice quiet hotel and would reccomend stayin there

The only thing I would say is breakfast was meant to be served between half 6- half 10 we arrived at 10 and they started packing it all away just after! This may have been because I stayed during the week though there wasn't much variety and didn't see a vegetarian option.

Lovely hotel, couldn't ask for more. Really pleasent and helpful staff, simple but really good quality rooms, Nice bathroom (excellent shower). Near to the town and train stations so getting around was easy enough. We went to Barry Island to the beach one day and it was really simple one train from Central station for £2.95 each return. The shopping centre is huge along with the high street and is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. There is something for everyone if you want the beach, countryside or city stay here! We'd deffinately stay here again!

        Friendly service and clean.

The name, the Mercure Cardiff Centre gave me the impression that it would have a city centre location. In fact it was 10/15 min walk to the city centre ( 20 min walk to Cardif bay) this on its own would not have been too bad but the walks to the city centre or the bay were not really suitable for pedestrians, we had to cross very busy roads with no footpaths across busy road junctions and roundabouts. The routes into the town and the bay were not well lit so we felt unsure about walking at night so needed a taxi instead. We didn't expect this when we booked at a hotel called Cardiff Centre.

Impossible to find after a tiring journey. Brown signs to every hotel except this, until you were right on top of it and then only if you were driving. That aside, it was good. Spacious room, pleasant staff who attended to things promptly and courteously. Decent quality tea in rooms and good having the open wardrobe, since most people only stay a few nights. We didn't have breakfast and were glad we hadn't as it looked a bit clinical and like eating in the foyer. Some plants would help. Given that it is a bit out of the way, it would have helped to have some knowledge of the immediate area E.G. where the nearest supermarket is (5 minutes walk) which we didn't find until we were leaving and then by accident.

Location, as above and poor signage towards it from station.

The hotel breakfast wasn't particularly good, sometimes cold and not a very wide selection.

On arrival we had been allocated a room with a shower. We spoke with reception staff and requested we be moved to a room with a bath. The staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and went out of their way to ensure we were moved to a room with a bath. At no point did we feel like this was a problem to them. This was a great start to our long awaited break. Breakfast was great, and very good value.

We have to say that we were very disappointed with the standard of cleanliness in our room. There were dirty spill marks all up the skirting boards and it was thick with dust. It was attention to detail that let the hotel down which is a real shame when the reception staff are working so hard and doing such a good job.
