We had an incredible stay at Distant Relatives! The staff were friendly and welcoming, and they even greeted us by name. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed, creating a perfect vibe. The common rooms were nicely decorated and created a friendly space for socializing. The food and drinks were delicious, and we even preordered our dinner before arriving. The highlight was definitely swimming in the nearby beach where we got to witness the magical bioluminescent plankton. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Can honestly say there wasn't anything not to like! 😊

The unique bathrooms in bamboo trees were a highlight. The pizza and BBQ ribs were delicious. The beach nearby was stunning. The small size of the place made it easy to connect with other guests. The eco theme and nature surrounding the place were impressive.

The hostel boasts jaw-dropping grounds and gardens that provide a beautiful backdrop for chilling all day long. The pool, delicious food, and serene surroundings make you forget you're in a hostel. Plus, its close proximity to the creek offers easier and more ENJOYABLE swimming options than the open ocean.

I had the most amazing stay at this eco-friendly lodge in Kilifi. The self-contained banda I stayed in was absolutely incredible, especially the beautiful outdoor shower. The entire property was clean and well-maintained, and I loved the bamboo forest shower. The kitchen was huge and well-equipped, and the common area and pool had a great vibe. The sunset dhow cruise and lunch at Nautilus were unforgettable experiences. And let's not forget about the mesmerizing bioluminescent plankton at the river! I highly recommend this place for an authentic and enjoyable stay.

This hidden gem is the perfect hideaway for a peaceful getaway. The staff truly goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. The self-contained bandas are absolutely stunning, with spacious rooms and luxurious ensuite bathrooms. The outdoor showers are a delightful surprise, adding a touch of nature to your stay. The eco-friendly compost toilets may take some getting used to, but they are a great concept. The location offers a beautiful sandy beach just a short walk away, perfect for a relaxing stroll or a dip in the creek.

Please note that the noise from musical events can be bothersome for those seeking a quiet night.

The pool beds were great, the beach at the creek was amazing, and the social vibe was off the charts. Friday's DJ was so good! Working here was doable. The internet was amazing too!

    Felt like home, no complaints.

The accommodations at this eco lodge were very nice. The bandas had comfortable beds and outdoor bathrooms, which added to the overall experience. The staff provided good service and created a welcoming atmosphere. The lodge was well organized, with a nice swimming pool and plenty of lounge areas. The amenities, including clean toilets and showers, were appreciated. the lodge offered a shared kitchen facility for those who preferred to make their own meals.

The prices of the bar and restaurant were quite expensive for backpackers, especially considering the limited options in the surrounding area.

The atmosphere was so relaxing and the location was perfect. The private room I stayed in had a unique outside shower, which was such a cool experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Beth at the reception. The parties were lively and the DJs really knew how to get the place popping. The food was delicious, especially the lamb curry and crab samosas. The beach was just a few minutes away, making it convenient for a quick visit. I had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this place for nature lovers and those seeking a calming retreat.

We were initially worried about finding Distant Relatives Ecolodge & Backpackers, but the signs were easy to follow once we found the matatu stage. The remote location turned out to be a hidden oasis of joy. The staff made us feel at home and the affordable food, especially the King prawns and Dahl rice, were delicious. Our comfortable banda near the volleyball court had a pleasant surprise outside shower. The concept of compost toilets took some getting used to, but it was a great water-saving idea. The live performance at pizza night was a delightful surprise. Despite the slightly tricky walk to the beach, the glowing bioluminescent plankton made it all worthwhile. A sunset sail on a traditional dhow was an unforgettable experience, although it got a little too quiet at times and we wished we had brought some music to enjoy. Lastly, the friendly and well-behaved dog, Mowgly, was a great welcoming touch.

I recently stayed at Distant Relatives and had an amazing time. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, even remembering my name. They went above and beyond, offering to take my dinner order when I arrived late due to a flight delay. The property was always clean and had a relaxed atmosphere. The compost toilets and outdoor shower nestled among the bamboo were unique and well-designed. I also appreciated the hotel's eco-friendly initiatives and educational reminders. Seeing the bioluminescence at night was truly magical. The rooms were spacious and clean, with large beds and mosquito nets without any holes. The swimming pool was great and there were plenty of places to chill on the property. The nearby creek was only a short 5-minute walk away and the staff always had piki piki available to take me to town.

    I do recommend this hotel.
