Tea and cake on arrival was a welcoming touch, and the view from my second-floor room over the canal was lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the ensuite with a walk-in shower was spotless. The starters during dinner were excellent, especially the smoked mackerel tart and prawn cocktail. Breakfast was also a highlight, with perfect porridge and a plentiful selection. The staff were friendly and the hotel grounds were beautiful.
The lack of bath mat and grab rails in the shower was concerning for safety, and the meat during dinner could have been more tender. The wifi was only available in the reception area and had poor connectivity.

We had a fantastic Easter break at a wonderful hotel. The views were breathtaking and the staff were incredibly accommodating. The location was perfect for exploring the nearby countryside and attractions. The food was exceptional, with a great variety of dishes available. the rooms were clean and comfortable, providing us with a much-needed rest after days full of activities.
The building did show its age in certain places, particularly in some of the older sections of the hotel. Some areas could use some modernization and updating.

It was traditional and of a high quality.
The room was lovely (and clean) but could do with an up date - especially the bathroom!

Location and price.
Missed the unlit hotel entrance at night and continued down the country lane, over a bridge and ended up on the canal tow path !! Funny at the time ! Family owned country hotel, so a little querky if your used to chains.
