Abvi St Louis is a budget hotel and is only that. Well situated for the City sights it is, however very basic in services. The continental breakfast is a doughnut.........if the kids leave any and tea-making was a no-no because the coffee perculator hot water function didn't! But for the cost represented a 6/10 vfm.
Badly stained carpets on stairs, paper border trim on wall coming off and general cleanliness was poor

The staff was really nice.
The room was filthy. We were afraid to put things down on the floor. The shower had hair in it from a previous occupant. Although it claimed to be a non-smoking room it obviously had been smoked in heavily. As my daughter observed, "It smells like someone died in here." One of the light fixtures was cracked and broken, the walls were chipped and cracked, there were spider webs in the corners and since we had to manipulate the TV manually to get it to find the correct input we saw behind the TV. At least two years of dust and crap. The furniture was splintered and beaten, one bed was higher than the other, the ironing board was filthy, it looked like it had been used as a bar at some point. Basically, this room was something I wouldn't give one star to much less two. Nice people working there don't make up for the travesty of the room. We stayed as the city was pretty much booked. But a word of advice, when the person behind the desk is protected by inch-thick safety glass, drive on. The location isn't worth it.

Jacob
We were pleasantly surprised by the value for money at this hotel. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and affordable, making our stay enjoyable. The location was also convenient, just a 15-minute walk to the center, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
Breakfast delights could use some improvement, perhaps adding a wider variety of options or fresh fruits to make it even better.
